Give people time

People process information at different speeds.

Sometimes we ask a question, wait only a second or two, and then repeat it, change the wording or ask another question.

This can actually make things harder because the person now has even more information to process.

Know how much processing time the person needs. Ask the question in a way they understand and give them enough time to respond.

Silence doesn't necessarily mean someone hasn't understood.
